- If you are not absolutely
sure a ball is out, it cannot be called out. If the ball touches
any part of the line, it is good. If there is a disagreement
between the partners regarding the call, the point goes to the opponents.
- Call a "let" on balls
rolling onto your court during a point. The ball is a hazard as
well as a distraction (no matter how subconscious). Anyone on
your court can call a "let."
- Play is to be continuous
between sets with the exception of entering a third set. There
is a ten minute break allowed between sets two and three for every player.
It is not a matter of "majority rule". If even one
player wants the break, it shall be allowed.
- Water shall be at every court
to avoid interrupting play on other courts and to facilitate continuous
play.
- LSWTL By-laws and USTA Tennis
Rules are to be with you on your court at all times. This is so
that decisions may be made quickly and quietly on your court without
interrupting other matches.
- Captain, Co-Captain or designated
player must be physically present during the entire match in
the event their team needs to arbitrate a rule.
- Read LSWTL By-laws and information
sheets.
- Written line-ups are to be
exchanged before the warm-up period begins.
- If your club has courts in
two or more locations, it is your responsibility to indicate where you
will be playing ahead of time to avoid a visiting team waiting at an
incorrect location.
- On service, receiver
should not retrieve a ball on a fault unless it is physically on
your court or constitutes a hazard behind your service or base line.
If a ball is retrieved without need between the first and second serve,
the server is allowed two serves after the interruption.
- If a ball hits a person
during play, the opponents receive the point, even if the ball is going
out of bounds.
